Presidents Message for May
Spring is finally here! It sure is nice to have warmer weather after our extended winter. It makes you want to get out and play golf or softball!
The Will Grundy County Home Builders and Associates has openings for both of these activities! If you would like to play, call Debbie or Tish at the office. It is a great way to become acquainted with some of our more active members. Can’t dedicate yourself to the schedule? Believe me, many of us are busy, with our kids games, etc… Why not get on the list for alternates and come out when you can?
Maybe it’s also the end of the cold housing market! The market conditions change every week. Recently there have been reports in the media that we have hit the bottom. Since the media tends to be a couple of months behind, we can look forward to improving market conditions. As Leaders in the home building industry, it is important that we project a positive attitude. Point out to the public that it is a great time to build or buy a new home. Interest rates are at historic lows. Material prices have come down from their peak at the height of the boom. Good builders have openings for business. More great sites are available and affordable.
To help our members to keep a positive attitude, the Will Grundy Counties Home Builders and Associates is hosting a Builders Round Table featuring some of our most experienced, long-time members. These Builders have been here before, and are willing to share their experiences and their insights on how to manage your business in a challenging market. Remember, we are all in the same boat – and only by rowing together can we make our way through the rough waters! It has been done before, so: Don’t miss the opportunity to sit, listen and learn from the industry veterans.
CONGRATULATIONS RO WALSH, GREATER ILLINOIS TITLE! After many years of buying a ticket in support of the Association, and enjoying the raffle parties, Ro won the GRAND prize at our Annual Raffle Party at the Empress Casino. What a great party! The Parrot Heads and their friends were all there! If you didn’t buy the ticket this year, don’t miss it next year! It was nice to see so many people we haven’t seen all winter! Bret Reifsteck, Greater Illinois Title, and Peter DeCraene, DeCraene Custom Homes, did a GREAT JOB AGAIN this year of chairing this event. Way to Git’it done!!!
The Association is looking for a few good members – there are some openings on the Board of Directors!! This is your opportunity to participate and to really be in the know of what is going on! Attend a breakfast meeting with the other dedicated builders and associates once a month. Breakfast is a smart habit of the smart and successful, and you gotta eat anyway right? Share some time with the other smart successful builder types, join the “Think Tank” of the Will –Grundy Home Builders and Associates. We know that there are some very hard working, smart, experienced members out there… we need you to step forward. There have been times when there were no openings on the Board and you wanted to belong… so, take advantage of the opportunity now to get more involved with the Association, put yourself in the right place to be knowledgeable about the industry issues and to weigh in with your opinion.
MAY IS NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE MONTH.
Be positive. It is that easy. Our Association does make a difference! Bring a new member in for May and you GET DOUBLE SPIKE POINTS! Now is the time!
